Step 1 Pre-training

Pre-training is for 30 days. It is REQUIRED to be finished in order to attend your course. If you do not finish it prior to your course you will need to reschedule your course. Please do not procrastinate.

YOU WILL RECEIVE FEEDBACK IN APPROXIMATELY 3 DAYS.

Taking feedback from Ashlee can be ALOT. We know that. This is the hardest part. Ashlee will deliver feedback to you via audio and markups on your photos- IT IS NORMAL FOR THIS TO NOT MAKE SENSE UNTIL YOUR CLASS.

A brief history, haircutting theory, along with hands on cutting demo on how to create this iconic haircut in a modern way. Our focus is on adapting to the head shape, texture, and density. Utilizing best practices in technique, body positioning, and shape, while meeting and tailoring the cut to the needs of each guest; ensuring a modern look with a classic feel.

This is a 4 hour hands on working demo cutting class.

Included: Fresh coffee and bagels, Tripod, and hand out. Option to bring mannequin or purchase one included with ticket to be provided day.

CLASS OVERVIEW

Class Schedule 9:30am – 4:00pm

A continuation of the SR Education Color Level 1 class  in this section the focus will be on advanced formulation, foil work, highlighting sectioning, partial, full, and mini, and foundational balayage. Designed to work for all experience levels, you will be working in a group setting with instruction from Senior S•R Educator Jessie Frye.

MEET JESSIE

After falling in love with the beauty industry in 1999 while working at the front desk of a local salon, Jessie Frye switched gears from teaching traditionally and attended cosmetology school. She proved that hard work pays off and rapidly advanced to become a Senior Director and Stylist Manager of an exclusive European salon.

Jessie is an energetic and organized leader with educational experience spanning several well known and respected brands such as Sally Rogerson Education, John Paul Mitchell Systems, Aveda, Vidal Sassoon Academy, and Davines, along with many other boutique brands. Jessie's passions synergistically collide with her love for the industry and her desire to share her knowledge with others.Working with the most cutting edge and in demand educational leaders both nationally and internationally for the last 16 years, Jessie's desire is to relay her learned and practiced knowledge in an interactive hands on approach. 

Her organized style of teaching blends the 4-Mat System, Presentation Advantage, and Sally Rogerson educator training to help  each learner's shared experiences be highlighted and allows for them to have a one on one group setting where the learning is endless. Jessie now operates her own artist's studio -Blue Orchid where her pursuit and passion for growth continues. Regularly attending advanced training sessions all over the world and networking with the most influencing artists, Jessie's classic knowledge of the industry is always current and up to date.

CLASS OVERVIEW

We are so excited to announce the latest course developed by Sally Rogerson completely focused on curly and textured hair. Our Level 1 Texture class includes curl theory, correct product use and application, protective styles (various braiding and twist techniques), and beginning curly hair cutting using dry and wet approaches. Designed to work for all experience levels, you will be cutting in a group setting with instruction from S•R Texture Specialist and Curl Educator Martina Nicholas.
 

YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:

Sectioning clips
Flat backed brush (Denman/Vess type)
Medium and large sized round brush
Water spray
Hair dryer
Iron
Notebook and pens/pencils

WE PROVIDE:

There will be some retail available in the classroom for anything you are missing.

MEET MARTINA

Martina Nicholas is a texture specialist, curl educator, & owner of Sunflower Curls Studio in Phoenix AZ. She landed in the industry in 2009 on a whim after a friend suggested she go to beauty school. She spent the next 7-8 years developing her craft all the while trying to find her true "hair passion." Thus began her Curl Journey. She was so inspired seeing herself reflected in curl trainings that she dove head first into the curl world & became a texture specialist, with a focus in tight curls. 

Since her shift into texture, she has been trained as a DevaCurl Level 2 Stylist, listed as one of Alfaparf’s top 26 Black Hairstylists, joined Oligo Pro as a Gloss Getter on their digital content team & was nominated for BTC One Shot Top 100 Natural Texture in 2021. Looking to further invest in herself as an educator, in 2020 she began the SR Teacher Training Program with Sally Rogerson. During that time she assisted Sally with the development of the SR Education Texture program. 

As a stylist and educator Martina's goal is to help Curly Folx feel safe and included in the hair salon experience by teaching stylists and clients how to take care of their texture. She wants to ensure curl training is available to all stylists, starting in school so that any shame felt by clients or fear/ignorance felt by stylists that are often associated with curly hair can be eliminated.

BYOI- Bring your own iron, and if not, you can pre order a curling iron. Our team will help you one- on- one to conquer that dreaded curling iron and even learn up to 4 different looks to replicate at home.
